A weekend with " Creative Scrappers #272 reveal"

Hellooo..

Well it is another fun reveal day over on the Creative Scrappers blog today and this sketch is like no other!!
When Kristne asked us to play along with sketch #272 which had no photo I was at first, admittedly at little scared..yikes.. I have only ever created one other layout like this , about 7 years ago documenting my pregnancy ..

But then as the scrappy-gods would have it , about 2 days after receiving this sketch my daughter out of the blue started telling me about her plans for when she grows up..
She was so matter of fact about it , that I knew I wanted it recorded so that I would remember this forever.. So sketch #272 was perfect !!
\
And here is my take...

Remember by Bernii Miller

I have been making an effort to finish off layout's using up some older products, so I managed to sneak on some of this rather old paper flowers and I love the little punch of colour it adds to the layout.

I also can;t seem to stay away from adding seam binding tape to my flower clusters :) I love the little " pretty" look it creates..

Remember by Bernii Miller

After creating the watercolour flowers, I used a sharpie fine tip pen to roughly outline the flowers. I tried just using a normal fine tip pen that I used with my journalling, but because of the resist the waxy watercolour created the pen was not working.

The sharpie worked really well although it takes a lot longer to dry and can be easily smudged. I learnt the hard way..

A weekend with " Swoon - Kaisercraft Sketch Challenge"

Hellloooo..

Well well ..

I have been scrapping up a storm with flowers lately.. ok a LOT.. I had no idea that I LOVED them this much !! I have always had some here in my stash, and then was incredibly lucky to win lots of pretty blooms when I won Scrapbooking Magazines Master competition at the end of last year..

I guess my style might be slightly evolving.. it always does.. I am still liking my bright colours , watercolour and layering , only this time flowers are making an appearance..

So when I picked up the Violet Crush collection from my local Kaisercraft shop I couldn't wait to play around with the new flowers I just grabbed, and I decided to play along with the Saturday Sketch challenge for the first time..

So let me show you what I created..

Swoon - by Bernii Miller

A weekend with " Shimelle.com weekend crop"

Helllooo..

Well this weekend I took some time out to take part in the Shimelle.com on-line crop that she has on right now... You still have time to head on over , check it out and play along if you wish too ..

Last night I was kid free so I started with the first challenge which was to play along with a sketch created by Corrie Jones.. and this is what I came up with..

Love layout by Bernii Miller

And this was the sketch..

I started to follow along and have ever attention of trying to stick to the sketch to it truest form, but all the pretty paper, watercolours and blossoms got the better of me...

For this layout I used the brand new BoBunny "Somewhere in Time" collection , in particular this gorgeous floral paper.. I fussy cut the flowers out and used that as the basis to build the layout around..

At the moment I can not get enough of the Nerolie Sky cut files that you can purchase from HERE and loved the way it just added that little bit of something to the page.. I also pulled out my brand new BoBunny Kraft wood shapes.. This one is from the elegant range.. Just love ♥

Love layout by Bernii Miller

For the back ground I used my template again from WOW and traced around the rose template , once the gesso and watercolour were totally dry.. I LOVE this effect and this is another element I love adding to my pages lately.

Love layout by Bernii Miller

I also used the new BoBunny " Stitches" stamp which I was able to create the stitching around the outside corners of the page.. There is also some adorbale doily stamps on their which I am dying to use.

I just love how this layout turned out and love it even more that I was able to capture this very brief moment between my children being nice to each other .. ha ha ..

Thanks so much for stopping and checking out my layout or today..

A weekend with " Polly! Scrap kits - June Project Life"

Helllooo..

Well today I have another Project Life share and this time it is with the Polly! Scrap Kit : June - Tea & Toast  kit..

This kit is jammed packed with loads of gorgeous brand new collections as well as exclusive designs from both Wilna Furstenburg and D-Lish Scraps.. How super exciting!!

For this spread I didn't use all the exclusives as I am saving the rest for the second Project Life spread that I will make.

So here is the overall spread..

Project Life spread by Bernii Miller

I mainly used the cards that were pre cut cards in the kit  and also added splashes of red watercolour around the page...I also added in bits from the FREE cut files that also come with the kit.. You can see those scattered around the spread - where I painted them red and then roughly outlined.

We were spoiled in this kit to receive a full pack of the adorable Jillibean Soup - Mini Placemats and I knew right away that I wanted to create a see through pocket, so I simply just slipped in one of the cards.. I LOVE the effect !!

A weekend with " Love Notes Mini Album"

Hellloooooo there :)

Well today I am up over on the BoBunny blog showing of a mini album that I created with the BoBunny Misc Me range..
I have been hanging onto this for a while and am so excited to share it with you today :)

Well Valentines has been and gone for another year but do not let that stop you from scrapbooking those moments you were head over heels for  that special someone in your life. That is exactly what I did here, with these 7 year old love notes that my husband wrote to me when we first starting dating and at the start of our engagement. So when BoBunny asked us to create a Misc Me inspired project using mixed media I instantly knew I wanted to create a lumpy bumpy keepsake that I would forever cherish.

The Head Over Heals collection released by BoBunny is perfect for this Misc Me album that I completed. The sentiments and images that are present in the noteworthy packs and the sticker sheets are exactly what I was after.

To start with I used a Misc Me Kraft Binder in the 8 x 9 in format and decorated the front with paper and embellishments right form the Head Over Heels collection. I then scoured through my notion cupboard and grabbed out bits of media that would suit the colour scheme. Mixed media does not necessarily mean loads of paint and stamps, it can just be the pretty little embellishments and notions you have been collecting , and always thinking to your self I will use that one day  and then adding them to your scrapbooking. For me it has been my pretty spotty tulle, heart ribbon, people cut outs with glitter thrown in for good measure.

The whole concept of this album was so easy and fast to pull together, and it has to be said that it is now my favourite album I have to date.

I am just so happy that after all this time I have been able to keep all the memorabilia in one place, and know that my children will cherish this for years to come.

The different page combinations of the Misc Me collections made it really simple to slip in the post it notes, and actual letters that I have about. Then all I simply did was add empherma to the outside of most of the page protectors. I simply adhered those with either my tiny attacher ( making sure I did not go all the way through the page protector ) or with e6000 glue. This is not an acid free glue, but a heavy duty glue, which I know will stand up to the test of time and the wear and tear over time.

I even managed to use up some of my crafting goodies. like this polka dot tulle that I had in my room. I love the dimension and texture it adds to my pages. I also love how it bulks up my album. I love the touchy feely stuff.

I love these BoBunny albums too as they allow me to add in extra memorabilia  by simply adding a few punched holes and then adding it directly into the album , just like the card below.

Here is another example of how I added in extra elements from the noteworthy pack by simply adding some punched holes and then inserting it directly into the spine of the album . I love how this adds little extra interactive elements to the album. It also allows me to add extra journaling where it needs to be added.

Well I hope that I have inspired you to pull out your Head Over Heels collection and use some of those Misc Me goodies you may have about and create your own Love Notes album. It may not have to be notes you received from your partner , in fact it could possibly be the art work your children bring home to you, which in fact are their little love notes to you. This collection really lends it's self to both a masculine and feminine feel so scrapping for either gender will work.

Till next time

I have had this photo of my son for a year now and I have been waiting or the right collection or kit to come along.. The bright colours from the Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine collection are just the right match.. I have a ton more photos from this day so I might even make a little mini album..

I loved this sketch and had so many ideas running through my mind, but in the end I decided to keep it a little clean and simple with a few clusters so I could just focus on the photo.

I even managed to sneak on a bow.. I hope he does not hold that against me when he is older ha ha .

A weekend with " Our Lil Monster" party banner.

Helloooooo ...

Well today I am sharing something a little different for me over on the BoBunny blog, I was asked to create an of the page project and had just the project in mind!! So enjoy the post xx

Well I have been a little busy of late getting my craft of one very special little nephew that will be celebrating his third birthday this month!!

I knew that the Our Lil Monster collection would be perfect to create a fun and colourful party set.

I started with creating a banner using up pieces from the noteworthy pack and then gave my silhouette portrait a work out  creating lots of paper rosettes, and then by hand I made lots of fun pin-wheels. Then just for some extra sparkle and fun, I used some dimensional magic   in the corner of the larger pin-wheels and sprinkled some silver chunky glitter that I grabbed from my local cheap shop.

Then to create the little clear buttons for the rosettes I used my circle epiphany tool , a perfect finishing touch.

I had so much fun creating these little straw flags. Using the strips off the 12 x 12 paper paper I save the little Our Lil Monster logo and used them directly on the little flags. They are a perfect fit.

I also made a few party bags with elements from the paper banner , creating little clusters and sprinkles of glitter. I just love the way that they turned out.

All together I love how this little set turned out and I KNOW that the little party boy will love it. I am hoping that the banner might become a little keepsake that he can also use in his room afterwards,

Now to create the triangle banners/bunting, I firstly created a template using one of my older carstock pieces that I know I will never use..
  •  I measured across the top 7 inches and cut the card stock to make a rectangle.
  • I then made a mark in the middle of the top at 3.5 inches and then measure down that line 8 inches.
  • Then from the bottom of that middle line , match the lines up to the corners of the top line. So one line will match up from the bottom of the 8 inch line to the top 1 inch point, and then the other will go from the bottom of the 8 inch to the top of the 7 inch . This will make a triangle,
  • Then cut that out to create your template :)

Then to make the pin-wheels.
Now I will tell you these will become addictive as they are so easy to make.
For my bunting I used two sizes of pin wheels. A larger 4 x 4 in pin-wheel for the centre of the bunting and then tiny little 2 x 2 inch pin-wheels what i stapled to the ribbon in between each bunting.
Here is a little step by step tutorial ..
  • Lay out your 6 x 6 paper pad and trim down to a desired square size. So let me show you a 6 x 6 one or this tute..
  • From each corner ( usually on the underside so you do not see the pen marks) draw a line in from each side directly to the middle. I went in 4 inches.
  • Then go around and cut the lines.
  • Then folding in from the outer edge to the middle , use a tiny attacher to staple down the outer edge to the middle. Make sure that you keep folding in the same outer corner to the middle.
  • Then once all your outer edges are stapled into the middle you can glue a gem , button, or perhaps another smaller pin-wheel to the centre.
  • I also added some glitter tips to the ends of my pin-wheel, simply using some glassy accents and sprinkling on chunky glitter.

Please if you need any more help just drop me a line or leave me a comment here as I would love to help out..

Till next time
Much love
