A weekend with " Polly -march Spearmint Leaves kit"

Hellloooo....

Dropping in on this Sunday morning to  share with you a quick and fun little layout I made using the March Spearmint Leaves main scrapbooking kit.

At first I was going to create a layout using one of the fun Amy Tangerine Plus One papers, but at the moment I am really enjoying building my layouts based on white card stock. This allows me to add a lot more colour and layering into my layout, with out is being distracted by the back ground paper. And if you have seen the Plus One collection most of the papers are wonderfully bright and might become a little too overbearing ..

So in my true style I dragged out my water colours, gesso and even my lemon drop dazzlers and created a back ground that I knew would compliment the papers in the kit. I am not sure what it is but I tend to go back and forth between cleaner layouts and more mixed media influenced ones.

To help also compensate for the very bold title found in the kits, keeping the back ground more subtle helps to balance my visual triangle.

Then while I was waiting for my  lemon drop dazzlers  to dry I pressed in some of the cute as pie wood veener stars.

Then in stead of just mounting my photo on a plain white mat I layered a heap of the papers from the kit.. I even snuck in a doily from my own stash.. I am really loving those at the moment. Then I could not go past not adding the exclusive acrylic house chip from Amy Tangerine.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today..

Till next time

A weekend with " BoBunny Pincushion Collection"

Hellooooo ..

Well I have been playing again .. and this time I am really keen on fussy cutting!! You either love it or hate it and I LOVE it..

I am always looking to maximise my stash and I find that my fussy cutting I can do just that..

BoBunny released the super cute pincushion collection not too long ago and within that collection one particular paper that I have been holding onto.. " Pincushion - Toile" .

It has this graphic black and white stripe pattern on the back and on the reverse this soft and feminine peach coloured roses. .. Together they work so beautifully ..

So this is what I created..

Everyday life by Bernii Miller

I layered some velum in there so help soften between the graphic and floral and even pulled out my Martha Stewart monarch butterfly punch and simply sewed these directly onto my page.

Of course I could not go past adding some black ink splatters..

Then for my title I used a Flutterby Designs fussy cuts and simply glittered it to my hearts content!!

I just love this photo of me and the children together and love it that I was able to scrap it and journal about how they make my "everyday life" just that much more special.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that perhaps you might have a little go at fussy cutting soon..

Till next time

A weekend with " Easter Bunny Visit"

Helloooo..

Well just a quick little post to share with you  some of the Easter decorating that happened here at the Miller household... I have taken to trying to create lovely little "pockets' of Easter around my home and I am slowly collecting little its and pieces.

Gorgeous handmade doily made for me by a dear work friend..

This is my first year doing this and I am totally kicking myself for not starting this earlier. The kids loved it and any visitors that dropped by all commented on how sweet the house looked !!

So it even had me thinking that I would love to start decorating to the seasons or events that are happening more often.. It really makes makes the difference between a house and a home.

I have plenty of decorations for Christmas but that is all.. So I have made a list of events and seasons and went to my local cheap store and bought a heap of tubs. Labelled them up and will store all my goodies in there . So from now on hopefully I can slowly start to add to each tub and be on the ready!!

Even my dear little silkies Ariel and Eric ( yes we have a Little Mermaid lover in the house) did not escape my Easter decorating!!

Amazing what a little food colouring and a spray bottle can achieve.. They are like little fair floss balls wandering around the garden..

Eric

Well I have packed away the Easter decorations and now looking for some winter themed decorations ( but nothing snowing) and it is proving  little tougher than I thought..so for now I am using glassware and succulents to get me through...

I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter break with loved ones and perhaps snuck in some crafting time too...

Till next time

A weekend with " Polly! Scrap kits November Single Kit" layouts..

Helloooo there..

Dropping in today to share with you all a couple of layouts that I created for the Polly! Scrap Kits using an older kit that they still have in the store.. Ohhh how I LOVE a good challenge... You can check out the kit HERE in the store and if you use the code bernii20 you will receive a further  20% discount off that particular kit .. woot woot..

So let me show you the contents of the kit first off...

The contents of the kit have a lot of different companies including Heidi Swapp, Carta Bella, studio Calico and MAMBI yummies... The kit also comes with FULL packs of the super cool Studio Calico feathers and acetate arrows..

You can see by the two layouts, I managed to create a couple of different looks..

I love you by Bernii Miller

I created this first layout with a more bohemian feel.. My daughter just woke up with this gorgeous bed hair so I wanted a more free flowing layout..

I love you by Bernii Miller

I simply adhered the feathers with some glossy accents and then once dry, I ran it through my sewing machine quite a few times.

I love you by Bernii Miller

I also tried my hand at some brush script for the first time and I love how it adds to the overall bohemian feel of the page..

Next I created a layout about my boy, although this time using more of the patterned paper that you find in the kit.

Say Cheese by Bernii Miller

Seriously I LOVE this pic of Hunter and they way he used to say " cheese" for the camera. So I wanted to pick up all the blue hues from the kit..

I love creating clusters especially when there are different textures involved. Ohhh and glitter too..

I still have more left over from the kit so will have more of a play and see what I come up with ..

A weekend with " 7 dots Studio - Masters Challenge"

Hellooo there..

Well I am dropping in to share another of my Scrapbooking Memories Masters challenge layout that was published at the start of the year..

Actually this was the first challenge pack that we were sent for our masters term and it was the gorgeous "Domestic Goddess" collection pack.. It is not normally something I would gravitate towards, but I must say the soft pinks and cross stitch paper really did appeal to me .

I had the perfect pictures I wanted to scrap about and it was these photos of my DD Abigail as she was telling me some story. I can not remember what it was about , but I remember her being so animated in telling me , and I just smiled and was thinking how much I love her and hope she never changes.

So this is what I created.

Of course I had to add some water colour in there and I must say it really helps me to blend in my papers to the background. I would be lost with out my watercolours.

I also dug into my vellum stash and used my Martha Stewart punch to create some soft and subtle butterfly kisses around the page.

Lots and lots of layers which I love to do ..

Overall this has become of my favourite layouts of my little girl...

I love that I was able to play and create with a collection that I would not normally gravitate towards..

Till next time

Much love

A weekend with " Come on Just Laugh"

Hellloooo..

Well today I though I would share I layout I created as my application for the Pinkfresh design team call. I was not successful , and it figures as there is some seriously talented ladies on the new team.. It was fun though to riffle through all my stash and pull out all the Pinkfresh goodies.

Any who I used what Pinkfresh goodies I had here on hand and decided I wanted to feature the stunning ombre washi tape..

I loved that I was able to mix these older yellow chipboard aplhas into my title.. I am drowning in alphas so I really am happy when I can use so many on one layout ha ha

Come on just laugh.. By Bernii Miller

At the moment too I am crushing on glitter and sequins.. so to have both on a layout makes my heart just that little bit more happy..

It is just starting too cool for Autumn over here in Australia so completing these fun summer layouts is already having me wish that summer didn't come and go so fast :(

A weekend with " BoBunny Modern Miss Misc Me"

Helllooooo ...

Well I have had a very busy of couple of weeks, with an awesome time attending a Project Life party  with the one and only Becky Higgins ( will blog that soon) and now with the school holidays on top of me. I am so lucky that being a school teacher myself, allows me to stay home with my own children every holiday..  although I am not sure they agree judging some of the eye rolling and " I am bored " comments already ha ha.

So I have needed some time out for me already and what better way to do that, then to catch up on last years project life spreads :) I got the chance to finally play with the brand new BoBunny Misc Me Journal box sets, which come complete with the 3 x 4 , 6 x 4 and 6 x 8 cards which are all perfectly coordinated. I LOVE to that it comes with the larger cards as I am planning to use those later to create a mini album.

This week I really did not have much to show picture wise, so I was looking too the journal pack to help me fill out my pages with filler cards..

left hand side
If you know my style then you know I LOVE to embellish.. and embellish a lot.. I love lumpy bumpy pages and so for this layout I used to the layered chipboard pieces to help me achieve that.

I am soooo in love with the watercolour look on these cards and was so excited that it matched the pictures I needed to use for this week..

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.

Till next time

A weekend with " BoBunny 2014- Pop Quiz" mini album

Helloooo..

Well it is the the end of the first term here for my daughter at school and I can I just say that the year already is just flying by!!So I wanted to share with you a little mini album that is WIP that was up the BoBunny blog this week..

What is not love about a mini album that can be used through out the year to capture your child's year at school! Especially when it looks like a totally cool composition book!! I decided right away that I was going to use this album as a " work in progress" album for the whole year to capture my daughters year at school, to have one place to collect the awards, paintings , drawings and newsletters for the year.

I designed the album into 4 sections using the tabbed dividers that are the foundation to the album. I divided it into 4 areas to represent the 4 schooling terms to the year. Then within each section I have added some Misc Me plastic photo sleeves and the awesome envelopes which will house a selection of my daughters school work through out the year. I can not tell you enough how excited I am about capturing this year of schooling using this adorable mini album.

I integrated into the chipboard album, lots of bits and pieces that are found through out the BoBunny Misc Me range. This way I was able to personalise the album to suit the schooling year ahead. I added in a combination of the Misc me page protectors and used the Pop Quiz Journal box set through out the album . I even used the large cards from the pack as pages just like in the photo below.

I added an envelope to each term of the year and can not wait to fill it will gorgeous work from my daughter. I added a little cluster of cute embellishments using the layered chipboard pieces and a hand cut banner.

I loved snapping these photos of Abigail at her desk! Even more so knowing that this is her very own and first desk of her long school life.

I also slipped in some of the Misc Me plastic sleeves so that I could add any awards Abigail brings home, so it can be displayed for all to see.
